Back from Gen Con and slowly getting back into my normal routine of work and family. Gen Con is such an immersive experience, it is quite amazing to think about how fast it seems to fly by. I ran both of the AGOT events to full groups of 6 players. In each game I had returning players; the first I had a returning Lothar (2nd time playing), and the other I had a returning Jana (4th time playing).
In the past, I have always been very concerned with the Role-Playing and combat balance in my convention games. To that end, I have always tended to try to follow a relatively strict script which goes against my typical home games where I like to allow the players freedom to go any which way.
This year I had planned on doing a bit more of the latter and allow the groups to go in multiple directions and it worked out well. The starting plot was the group was escorting the wayward noblewoman who is betrothed to Lothar back to Last Hearth by way of a stopover at Long Lake. At Long Lake, the group encounters a straggling band of Hornwood soldiers who are reporting a differing account of what actually happened at Winterfell when the Ironborn were defeated by Ramsay Snow and the Boltons.
One group went the route of traveling to Winterfell to investigate and confirm the soldier's claims as they were not willing to act on their accounts alone. The other group decided to travel instead to Last Hearth.
